Wondercon was pretty fun. The first time it was in Anaheim… I wonder if it will return? Seemed like a success, it was for us at least!

Just a side note on all things 133rd, if you are wondering about a volume 2 coming out, just want you to know its written. Actually Volume 2 is written and Volume 3 is penciled out. It’s just a matter of when we can do it, not if.

I’ve been so excited to show this off! One of my favorite monster toys of all time! The Remco Mini Monster Playcase from 1981. This was a carrying case and playset for the super cool Universal Mini Monster figures.

Monster figures at their best! 3 3/4 in size, fantastic sculpts and paint, they even had versions that had glow in the dark skin! A must for any monster collector. Figures like Dracula, Frankenstein, The Mummy, Wolfman and The Creature!

The playcase was constructed of cardboard and cheap vacuum sealed plastic so not many have survived all these years, but if you look hard enough you can find one and sometimes even at a good price! Even though the materials this case are made from are inexpensive the thought that went into it was top notch! It’s one of the funnest pieces out there. Great art, fun gimmicks and a nice home for your Mini Monsters.

One of my heroes has just released a new album. Have you heard it yet? If not, for shame. Now go buy it!

The legendary Tom Waits has just released the album Bad As Me, and I can tell you, it does not disappoint. It has not left my stereo since I got my hands on it.

Frankly, there is nothing better than driving down the nighttime streets of your city, after most have gone to bed, listening to the music of Tom Waits. He has made a soundtrack for your adventures.

The packaging and art for the new album is fantastic as always. I highly suggest the deluxe version of the CD as it comes with a nice hardback-booklet featuring lyrics and photos (many shot by Tom Waits himself). Also, there are three additional songs on the deluxe version. ‘Nuff said.

The Vinyl is gorgeous high quality as well and comes packaged with a CD for those of you taking part in this whole “digital” thing.

Anyway… it’s a happy day. New Tom Waits music.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of stopping by Hollywood Forever Cemetery for their annual Day of the Dead Día de los Muertos celebration. It was amazing. I’m already looking forward to next year. This is the way to celebrate your dead.

Day of the Dead (Spanish: Día de los Muertos) is a Mexican holiday. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. It is particularly celebrated in Mexico, where it attains the quality of a National Holiday. The celebration takes place on November 1st and 2nd, in connection with the Catholic holidays of All Saints’ Day (November 1) and All Souls’ Day (November 2). Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed and visiting graves with these as gifts.

Scholars trace the origins of the modern Mexican holiday to indigenous observances dating back hundreds of years and to an Aztec festival dedicated to a goddess called Mictecacihuatl. In Brazil, Dia de Finados is a public holiday that many Brazilians celebrate by visiting cemeteries and churches. In Spain, there are festivals and parades, and, at the end of the day, people gather at cemeteries and pray for their dead loved ones. Similar observances occur elsewhere in Europe, and similarly themed celebrations appear in many Asian and African cultures.

The ABSOLUTE best time I had at Comic Con this year was at the San Diego Zombie Walk 5th Year Anniversary Pre-Party and Zombie Walk!!!

It was the opposite of everything that has gone wrong with Comic Con. It was a gathering of fans for fun! Nothing more. No commercialism, no marketing, no buy this or buy that… Just the undead. And a whole lot of undead fun!!! Fantastic job all you corpses!!! I’ll let the photos tell you the rest!

and finally… one of my favorites, a zombie reading… well, you guessed it, The Walking Dead!

Speaking of the Walking Dead, one of the few promotions this year that was simple and fun was a semi truck driving around with a Walking Dead Billboard on it… plus some blood and limbs of course.
